Description

Test Information: This panel includes testing for antibodies to Zika Virus, Chikungunya Virus (ChikV), and Dengue Fever Virus. This assay should be used in patients presenting at least 2 weeks postsymptom onset or last possible exposure to Zika virus. Reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) for Zika virus RNA detection should be ordered in patients with less than 2 weeks of symptoms or postexposure.

Tests Included:

Zika IgM Capture ELISA is used under the Food and Drug Administration’s Emergency Use Authorization.

  1. Chikungunya Virus IgG and IgM Antibodies (Sendout) [RCHIKV] - Refrigerated serum
  2. Dengue Fever IgG and IgM Antibody (Sendout) [RDFAGM] - Refrigerated serum
  3. Zika Virus Antibody, IgM (Sendout) [RZIKM] - Frozen serum

Sendouts:

  • Order ARUP Tests: 2011812 (Chikungunya) and 0093096 (Dengue).
  • Order Mayo Test: VZIKM (Zika). Provide answers to the questions (3) indicated in the general information section when ordering in MayoAccess.

Stability:

  • Chikungunya (ARUP 2011812): Refrigerated: 2 weeks; Frozen: 1 year (avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles); Ambient: 48 hours.
  • Dengue (ARUP 0093096): Refrigerated: 2 weeks; Frozen: 1 year (avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles); Ambient: 48 hours.
  • Zika (Mayo VZIKM): Frozen: 30 days; Refrigerated: Unacceptable; Ambient: Unacceptable.
