Guidelines

Method

Multiplex real-time PCR-based detection of DNA from Candida auris (ITS2 gene). This test is run on the BD Max platform.

This test is batched with a maximum of 22 patient samples per run. Maximum number of runs is 3 per day.

This test is designed for screening patients for C. auris colonization.

Specimen Type: E swab
Collection: Collect sample from axilla, groin or axilla/groin composite. Samples must be in Montlake microbiology by noon to make the last run.

The cut off for specimens collected at HMC is 8 am to make the courier to Montlake.
Handling Instructions: Transport E swab to lab at room temperature within 48 hours
Quantity: Minimum: 1 ESwab

Receiving Instructions: Please store specimens in rack in serology refrigerator.
