- Description
STAT requests require approval from the Lab Med Resident. Increased urinary porphobilinogen concentration in the presence of acute clinical symptoms is consistent with a biochemical diagnosis of acute porphyria, variegate porphyria, or hereditary coproporphyria. Normal concentrations may be seen in porphyria patients who are asymptomatic at the time of collection.
