Cystatin C (Sendout)

Useful For:

• Assessing kidney function in patients suspected of having kidney disease
• Monitoring treatment response in patients with kidney disease

6 mL blood in RED TOP, GOLD SST, GREEN TOP (Sodium Heparin), or LAVENDER TOP Tube

Also Accepted: LIME GREEN PST (Lithium Heparin)

Outside Laboratories: Centrifuge sample and transfer serum or plasma to a separate plastic vial within 2 hours of collection. Refrigerate serum/plasma.

Stability: Refrigerated (preferred): 7 days; Frozen: 2 months; Ambient: 48 hours (serum/plasma on gel separator or aliquoted to separate vial)

Reject Due To: Gross lipemia. Hemolysis or icterus is acceptable.

• Plasma or serum in gel separator tubes is stable for 48 hours once spun. Aliquot prior to sending to SCHL.
