Ordered by Virology staff only, unavailable as a stand-alone test. HIV12C is an immunochromatographic test to confirm and differentiate antibodies to HIV-1 and HIV-2. The assay is used as part of the CDC HIV Diagnostic testing algorithm for samples that were reactive in the 4th generation HIV Ab/Ag Combo screening assay.

Handling Instructions

Whole blood may be stored at 2 to 8 °C. Plasma and serum samples may be stored at 2 to 8 °C for up to 7 days.

Pearl Top: Centrifuge and refrigerate entire spun tube.

Lavender Top: Centrifuge, aliquot plasma into polypropylene tube and refrigerate.

Red Top: Centrifuge, aliquot serum into polypropylene tube and refrigerate.
