Mix well, Measure & record TV. Urine specimens should be acidified.
UW-MT Instructions: Take specimens to the Automated Chemistry Technologist who will pH the sample to 1 with HCL.
HMC Instructions: Forward specimen to UW-MT with next shipment. The Automated Chemistry Technologist will pH sample.Refrigerate urine
SPS Note: Notify Lab Medicine Resident on-call if unacceptable urine sample is received. For random urines, the only test available is Magnesium Fractional Excretion, Urine. LMR should notify the provider, and assure that both urine and serum specimens have been sent.
