Must be pre-arranged with HMC Micro @ 206 744-5858. For gram stain, also order GRAM.

Components

Specimen Type: Biopsy
Collection: Submit approximately 0.5 cm diameter tissue in sterile container. Do not add fluid or use transport medium (transport media alters the quantitation).
Handling Instructions: Transport tissue to Micro Lab within 2 hours of collection at room temperature. If transport will be delayed more than 2 hours, refrigerate specimen. Maximum transport time (refrigerated) is 24 hours from time of collection.
Quantity: requested: 0.5 cm diameter tissue
minimum: 0.2 cm

Processing: Specimen must be received Monday-Friday before 5 PM when trained staff is in HMC Micro Lab. If received at other times, lab will call to see if non-quant culture should be substituted.
