Useful For: Donor testing. Includes the following tests: Hepatitis B Surface Antigen (HBsAg), Hepatitis C Antibody (Anti-HCV), HTLV-I/II, HIV 1/2, Hepatitis B Core Antibody (anti-HBc), Syphilis by RPR (STS), anti-T. cruzi, HCV/HIV/HBV NAT, and WNV NAT. Confirmatory tests are automatically added to the request and performed at an additional charge if the screening test for HBsAg, Syphilis by RPR, anti-HIV-1/HIV-2, anti-HTLV-I/-II, or T.cruzi is reactive.

Labeling Requirements: All samples must be properly labeled and information must agree with the identification on the RFT.
- If a specimen is identified by name, there must also be a numeric identifier which may include Hospital number, birth date, or other coded identifier
- If only a numeric identifier is used (with no name), the number must be a Hospital number or coded identifier. A birth date is not acceptable in this circumstance.
- A draw date should be on the sample, but the sample will still be accepted if the draw information is on the RFT.

Store and transport samples at ambient temperature unless transport is delayed.
FHCC SPS:

- A completed Donor Testing RFT must accompany all samples.
- Package sample(s) with the associated requisition in a biohazard bag (one patient per bag). Orders received with multiple patient samples/requisitions in the same biozard bag will be rejected by Bloodworks NW.
- Send samples to Bloodworks Central via scheduled DLMP Courier pickups or Delivery Express according to the site’s preferred transportation method.
Stability:
- Unspun Whole Blood: Lav/EDTA: 72 hours; Red (clot): 7 days.
- Serum (HBsAG, HIV 1/2, HBc, HTLV I/II, HCV, STS, T. cruzi):
- Stability (serum): Refrigerated: 14 days; Frozen -20 °C: Acceptable.
- NAT Testing (HCV/HIV/HBV and WNV NAT): Whole blood samples must be received at Bloodworks NW Donor Testing Lab within 72 hours of collection. Samples that will not reach the lab within that stability limit may be centrifuged and the plasma separated and refrigerated. See additional processing information.
