Useful For: Detecting mercury toxicity in 24-hour urine specimens.
Patient Preparation: High concentrations of gadolinium and iodine are known to interfere with most metals tests. If either gadolinium- or iodine-containing contrast media has been administered, a specimen should not be collected for 96 hours.

24 Hour Urine Collection (Preferred):
- Collect urine for 24 hours in a SAGE Pour Spout Urine Container.
- Refrigerate specimen within 4 hours of completion of 24-hour collection.
Random Urine: Collect random urine in a sterile screw-cap container.

Outside Laboratories:
- Collect urine for 24 hours in a timed urine collection container with no metal cap or glued insert.
- Refrigerate specimen within 4 hours of completion of 24-hour collection.
- Mix urine. Measure and record total volume.
- Transfer 10 mL urine to a separate aliquot and refrigerate.
Stability: Refrigerated (preferred): 7 days; Frozen: 7 days; Ambient: Unacceptable.

- Batch RUHG on the interface. Add test HGUCR and delete test HGU in MayoAccess prior to closing the batch.
