This test is used to determine if patient has an acute primary infection. To obtain the Rubella Immune Status of a patient, see test mnemonic RUIS.
NOTE: Prior to sample submission, ordering providers must obtain approval from the Seattle King Co. Public Health Epidemiologist by contacting (206) 296-4774.
Outside Laboratories: Providers must obtain permission from the local county public health Epidemiologist prior to submitting a sample. A completed Washington State Lab requisition should accompany orders for this test. Washington State Department of Health Requisition

Centrifige sample and aliquot serum to a separate vial. Refrigerate serum.
Sendouts: Verify with the ordering physician that the correct test was requested. If so, provide physician contact information to the Seattle King Co. Epidemiologist at (206) 296-4774 prior to sample submission.
Outside Laboratories: Obtain permission from the local county public health epidemiologist prior to submitting a sample. Write the provider's full contact information, the patient's county, and the name of the epidemiologist approving the request on the WA State requisition.
