Test Information: This test cannot be requested until after the Platelet Alloantibody Workup (Basic) test has been performed. If a patient fails to respond to HLA-selected community donors, further testing may be required. An advanced workup may include a class I HLA antibody identification and a platelet antibody assay. Further antibody identification may be required using a platelet specific assay (MAIPA).
Ordering Requirements: Laboratory Medicine Resident (LMR) approval and consultation with the Transfusion Medicine attending is required. To arrange for testing, contact the LMR on-call via the paging operator at (206) 598-6190.
