HLA Antibody Monitoring DSA, Protocol (Sendout)

Indications: Solid organ transplant.

Test Information: The purpose of this test is to monitor patients after transplant for the presence and level of antibodies to the donor’s HLA antigens. The test is semi-quantitative.

Ordering Guidance (Protocol): This code is appropriate for DSA monitoring performed as part of a set protocol. Results will be available 6 business days after sample receipt. If a shorter turnaround time is required, order HLA Antibody Monitoring DSA, Routine (Sendout) [RHLAM] or HLA Antibody Monitoring DSA, STAT (Sendout) [RHLASM], as appropriate.

10 mL blood in RED TOP (clot) tube

Outside Laboratories:

• Transport whole blood samples at room temperature (serum from a red top tube is also accepted). Samples must be received by Bloodworks Northwest within 10 days of collection.
• A completed Bloodworks Northwest Immunogenetics/HLA Requisition must accompany all orders. In the Billing section, indicate "Bill to UWMC DLMP."

Stability: Ambient: 10 days.

Store and transport samples at ambient temperature.

  • Package sample(s) with the associated requisition in a biohazard bag (one patient per bag). Orders received with multiple patient samples/requisitions in the same biohazard bag will be rejected by Bloodworks NW.
• Send routine samples via scheduled DLMP Courier shipments (or Delivery Express, as needed).

Stability: Ambient: 10 days. Serum is also accepted.
