      Receiving Instructions

      Store and transport peripheral blood or bone marrow samples at room temperature.

        • Hematologics Test: RUNX1::RUNX1T1 t(8;21) [listed under "Molecular Studies"]
        • If a Hematologics Test Requisition Form does not accompany the sample, it may be completed by lab staff.
          • Include a copy of the Epic requisition. The physician authorization/time stamp on the Epic order can be submitted in lieu of a physical physician signature if accompanied by a Hematologics requisition.
        • Send samples Monday through Friday via Delivery Express. Samples must be received at Hematologics within 5 days of collection. Same-day or next-day transport is preferred.

        Hematopathology SMG:

        • If ordered in conjunction with other Hematopathology testing, samples may be sent out directly to Hematologics, Inc. to avoid additional transport delays. Refer to sendout instructions above.

        Stability: Ambient (Preferred): 5 days; Refrigerated: Not recommended; Frozen: Unacceptable.

        • Note: Sample viability may be compromised by refrigeration.
