Sputum, Bronchoalveolar Lavage, BAL, Bronchial Wash, Bronchial Brush
Collection

BAL, Bronchial Wash, Bronchial Brush, induced sputum. Although less desirable expectorated sputum is acceptable, if patient is immunocompromised).

*Send as much specimen as possible if diluted specimen such as BAL.

Handling Instructions

Transport to the laboratory immediately. If transport time will exceed 2 hours, specimens should be refrigerated.
