Calculated GFR by CKD-EPI equation. Inaccurate with rapidly changing renal function.
GFR is calculated by the CKD-EPI equation based on serum creatinine, age, and sex. It is normalized to 1.73 m² body surface area. If age or sex is unavailable at the time of reporting, or if the patient is under 18 years old, GFR can be calculated from the NIH web site.
Race is excluded in GFR calculation as self-reported race is a subjective variable and no conclusive evidence support biological differences between racial groups. See JAMA 2019 Jul 9;322(2)
