The battery MYOABS includes 11 different myositis related antibodies. Samples with Borderline or Positive results are sent for confirmation testing.
Autoimmune forms of myositis are associated with a variety of autoantibodies. These antibodies have a low sensitivity, but high specificity for the condition. Screening for multiple antibodies increases the overall sensitivity of the testing.

Serum from 74 healthy blood donors was tested during method validation in 2015. In addition, patient samples with borderline results were tested at a reference lab to determine the negative/positive cut-off.
