The BioFire Blood Culture Identification 2 panel is performed reflexively on a positive blood culture. It is a PCR test that will identify 43 targets.
Resistance markers: Carbapenemases: IMP, KPC, OXA-48-like, NDM, VIM; Colistin resistance: mcr-1; ESBL: CTX-M; Methicillin Resistance: mecA/C, mecA/C and MREJ; Vancomycin resistance: vanA/B
Gram-negative Bacteria: Acinetobacter calcoaceticus-baumannii complex, B. fragilis, Enterobacterales: Enterobacter cloacae complex, E. coli, K. aerogenes, K. oxytoca, K. pneumoniae group, Proteus spp., Serratia marcescens; Haemophilus influenzae, Neisseria meningitidis, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Stenotrophomonas maltophilia.
Gram-positive bacteria: Enterococcus faecalis, Enterococcus faecium, Listeria monocytogenes, Staphylococcus spp., S. aureus, S. epidermidis, S. lugdunensis, Streptococcus spp., S. agalactiae, S.pyogenes, S. pneumoniae.
Yeast: C. albicans, C. auris, C. glabrata, C. krusei, C. parapsilosis, C. tropicalis, Cryptococcus (C. neoformans/ C. gatti)
