Test Information: The Rabies Antibody Endpoint Titer is a quantitative result. An exact titer between the reportable range of 0.1 to 15.0 IU/mL is provided.

Ordering Guidance: Order this test for CSF samples or if the provider specifically requests the "Endpoint" titer. For routine rabies antibody screen on serum, refer to test RABAB.

Blood: 6 mL blood in RED TOP tube or GOLD SST

CSF: 2 mL CSF (min 0.5 mL) in a separate vial.

Unacceptable: Plasma or anticoagulated specimen

Blood: Centrifuge sample and transfer serum to a separate plastic vial. Refrigerate serum while awaiting shipment. Transport with a cold pack.

CSF: Refrigerate CSF in a separate vial while awaiting shipment. Transport with a cold pack.

Stability: Refrigerated (preferred): 7 days; Frozen: Acceptable; Ambient: Unacceptable.

Reject Due To: Gross hemolysis, gross lipemia, plasma.
