UW Medicine Anticoagulation Services
Patient plasma is diluted 1:3 with normal pooled plasma and the thrombin time is measured. This thrombin time is compared to a calibration curve generated using known concentrations of dabigatran.

Processing
- Receiving Instructions
Take specimen to Coagulation lab.
Outside laboratories: Centrifuge for 10 minutes, remove plasma & respin plasma for another 10 minutes. Decant and FREEZE plasma (minimum 0.5 mL) @ -20°C to -80°C. Send FROZEN on dry ice.
