Interferences and Limitations: Methylene blue will interfere with measurement of venous or arterial methemoglobin for approximately 24 hours after administration. Measurements made less than a day after methylene blue therapy is given may give falsely low results for methemoglobin.

Specimen Type: Arterial Blood
Collection: Arterial blood collected into a balanced heparinized syringe such as the 2 mL Radiometer PicoTM or 3 mL Smiths Portex Pro-Vent syringes.
Handling Instructions: Needles must be removed from syringes and replaced with caps before sending to the lab. No air bubbles. Transport to Lab Immediately.
Quantity: Requested: Full Syringe
Minimum: half of a full syinge

Receiving Instructions: This battery of tests will be done at patient bedside when a "CODE BLUE" is called.

Note: ML Tech will transport Mobile Blood Gas Cart to the floor. The ML Tech is responsible for making out a request form, login of this panel & result entry.
