Handling Instructions

Forward promptly to the lab. Sample must be received by the referral lab within 48 hrs of collection.

Due to limited specimen stability, draw samples Monday through Thursday only. Do not draw on Friday or holidays. Samples drawn on Thursdays must arrive at the UW-MT or HMC Sendouts Laboratory by noon for same-day shipment.

Maintain whole blood at room temperature (20° – 25°C). Expedite processing; notify Sendouts staff immediately upon receipt of sample.

  • Send samples via FedEx Priority Overnight, Monday through Thursday only. Saturday delivery is not available for this lab.

Note: The Toxoplasma Serology Laboratory may test specimens that deviate from the stated conditions with client authorization. However, sensitivity might be compromised. Please contact the laboratory at (650) 853-4828 for questions about sample acceptability.
