- Description
Viral Prenatal Panel
1. Quantitative detection of Hepatitis B virus Surface IgG antibody (HBSAb) in human sera by the FDA approved Abbott Architect test method. Results are reported as mIU/mL.
Reactive HBSAg are confirmed by neutralization assay at no charge. Confirmed positives are reflexed to Hepatitis B Quantitative [HBVQNT] for final confirmation with an additional charge.
2. Detection of HSV1 and HSV2 IgG antibodies (HSWB) by Western blot in sera. This test was developed and its performance characteristics determined by the University of Washington Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology. It has not been cleared or approved by the US Food and Drug Administration.
Results are reported as:
- HSV1 - Positive, Negative or Indeterminate
- HSV2 - Positive, Negative or Indeterminate
See Herpes Simplex Western Blot [HSWB] for detailed assay description.
3. Quantitative detection of Rubella IgG class antibodies (RUIS) in human sera by the FDA approved Zeus ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) test System. Results are reported as IU/mL.

Blood: Harvest sera from whole blood within 24 hours of collection. Sera may be stored at 2-8°C (ice pack) for up to 7 days. If testing will be delayed more than 7 days from collection freeze at -10°C or colder. Do not freeze/thaw.
Outside Laboratories: Freeze samples at -10°C or colder. Ship on dry ice, do not freeze/thaw. If freezer and/or dry ice is not available, ship immediately at 2-8°C (ice pack), shipment time must not exceed 7 days from collection. Samples stored at 2-8°C greater than 7 days old will be rejected.
Unacceptable samples: Cord blood, neonatal specimens, cadaver specimens, heat-inactivated specimens, or body fluids such as saliva, urine, amniotic fluid, or pleural fluid. Specimens with obvious microbial contamination or are grossly hemolyzed.
