Useful for assessing mast cell activation (which may occur as a result of anaphylaxis or allergen challenge or anaphylactoid reactions) and for assessing patients with systemic mastocytosis or mast cell activation syndrome.
***Note: Effective 07/22/2026, this test is currently unavailable. Samples will be forwarded to Mayo Clinic Laboratories for Tryptase (Sendout) [#1181] and reported under "Reference Laboratory Test 1 [SEND1]" until further notice. Testing is expected to resume on 08/03/2026.***
