Cryofibrinogen_Heparin (as part of cryofibrinogen package)
General Information
- Lab Name
- Cryofibrinogen_Heparin
- Lab Code
- CRFGRN
- Epic Name
- CRYOFIBRINOGEN-HEPARIN
- Description
Cryofibrinogenemia refers to the presence of cold-precipitating proteins in plasma but not in serum, with results reported at 3 and 10 days. A semi-quantitative estimate of the amount of precipitate is reported when present. If a cryofibrinogen precipitate is present in both blue citrate and green heparin plasma tubes but not in serum, it is more likely to be clinically significant. Presence of cryofibrinogens in the peripheral blood can be asymptomatic, but is associated with a variety of conditions including malignancy, infection, systemic rheumatic diseases or thromboembolic disorders.
