Preferred: 5 mL blood in PEARL TOP (Pearl white cap with K2EDTA and gel)
Note: Any EDTA TUBE is acceptable.
Caution: Two Lavender top tubes are needed when BNAP is ordered with a CBC.
UW-MT/HMC SPS: Pearl White Hemogard: Centrifuge within 2 hours of blood draw (recommended). Acceptable: Centrifugation within 8 hours of blood draw. Lavender top: Centrifuge and aliquot plasma within 2 hours of blood draw (recommended). Acceptable: Centrifugation within 8 hours of blood draw. Deliver plasma aliquot directly to the testing bench. Note: If testing cannot be completed within 8 hours at room temperature or 24 hours refrigerated, plasma must be frozen at -20°C. Do not freeze the sample in the gel pearl top tube. Aliquot and decant plasma into tubes prior to freezing. Outside & Remote Lab Locations: Centrifuge and aliquot plasma within two hours of blood draw. Freeze at -20°C. Route to appropriate lab.
