The Laboratory MUST process specimen, within 2 hours of blood collection.
Centrifuge and separate serum within 2 hours.
Stability: 24 hrs at Room Temp; 6 days at 2 to 8°C. For long term store -20°C
If lime green PSTs or green top tubes are the only received samples from offsite clinics or UWMC-NW, they will route to the Problem Spot for this test. UWMC-Montlake can still test these, but they must not be placed on the automation line. Instead, they should be delivered directly to Chemistry with verbal communication that they are Problem Spot specimens.
