- Description
NOTE: This test is temporarily unavailable as of 03/25/2020.
The detection of viable Adenovirus (ADV) prior to visible cytopathic effect (CPE) in conventional tube tissue culture. Specimens are inoculated into two 48-well plates containing a monolayer of a receptive cell line and centrifuged at low speed. At day 1 and 3 post inoculation, one plate is stained with a monoclonal antibody to adenovirus, and then reacted with fluorescent-conjugated goat anti-mouse immunoglobulin G. The cells are examined for characteristic nuclear staining which indicates the presence of adenovirus growth. Results are reported as ADENOVIRUS DETECTED or Not detected.
This test was developed and its performance characteristics determined by the University of Washington Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology. It has not been cleared or approved by the US Food and Drug Administration.
Only use this test code in conjunction with a Viral Culture Screen Viral Culture Screen [VCS].
