Heparin Induced Platelet Antibody
General Information
- Lab Name
- Heparin Induced Platelet Antibody
- Lab Code
- HIPAB
- Epic Ordering
- Heparin Induced Platelet Antibody
- Description
- The HIPAB or Heparin Induced Platelet Ab panel is NOT reflexive for the Seratonin Release Assay. NOTE: The HITRP or HIT Reflexive Panel IS reflexive for the Seratonin Release Assay. For HMC/UW-MT Inpatients, suggest ordering Heparin Induced Thrombocytopenia Reflexive Panel (HITRP). When the HITRP is ordered the Seratonin Release Assay (RSRAG) will be added reflexively with any positive Heparin Induced Platelet Antibody (HIPA) component test. See "HIT Reflexive Panel" in the Laboratory Test Catalog for sample and other information. Assay interference: heparin at a level of >1.0 IU/mL in a test sample will interfere with the HIPA assay and will cause false negative results.
