- Tissue Biopsy, Bone Marrow, PBMC-for HCV only, Swab

Peripheral Blood Mononuclear Cells (PBMC) or Bone Marrow in 5 mL LAVENDER tube - No Heparin in aspirate syringe.Note: PBMC specimen is only acceptable for Hepatitis C.
Biopsy: Pea Size, Swab in sterile tube/viral transport media.
Paraffin tissue: DO NOT SEND ENTIRE BLOCK. Slice 3-4 slices that are 5-50 micron thick and put in sterile tube. - Handling Instructions
Note: Separate specimens MUST be submitted when both Viral Culture or Serology and PCR testing are ordered.
Processing
- Processing
PBMC, Bone Marrow: send 5 mL lavender at room temperature within 24 hour of collection OR Centrifuge blood within 24 hour and aliquot off the buffy coat. Freeze buffy coat at -20°C.
Biopsy: send Frozen at -20°C.
Paraffin tissue: send at room temperature
Swabs: dry swab on in viral transport media, send Frozen at -20°C.
